I’m on a boat!
Day 12: Paros
On day 12 we went on a full day boat tour with Captain Yannis. If you are ever in Paros, Greece…I highly recommend.
The boat tour was something Jason had proposed to the group before we had even left for the trip as one of the add-on excursions. Originally, Amanda and I were going to take a day excursion to Mykonos and Delos, but we decided to stay and enjoy a lazy day with the group. When the scuba company cancelled our dive, I worried that maybe the boat wouldn’t be able to happen either. This was kind of true. While we were at the beach the day before, Jason was apparently trying to find other options for us as the original company decided it was too dangerous for their boat to go out. Because Captain Yannis’ boat was bigger, it was much safer. We ended up paying five euro more, but we were still able to go out and spend the day touring around Paros, Antiparos, and some smaller islands.

The bus picked us up from the hotel at 0930 and transferred us to Piso Livadi. We immediately got on the boat where we were welcomed with coffee and snacks. Throughout the day we stopped at five different private beaches, caves, and snorkeling sites. At one of the stops Captain Yannis cooked up a traditional Greek BBQ with a ton of food. After lunch we stopped at a few more beaches.

Important side information: It was again 70 degrees out and windy as hell. I had a sweatshirt on most of the day when I wasn’t swimming and covered up with my towel.

We returned back to the port around 1900 and headed back to the hotel for showers. We went to a local bakery and ate dessert for dinner. The worker at the bakery didn’t speak any English so we basically just pointed at the things that looked good and hoped for the best.
After hanging out by the pool for a while, we headed back to our room to strategically pack our bags so we wouldn’t have to repack them again. We were taking a five and half hour ferry back to Athens in the morning for our last day in Greece.

Enjoy a video from our trip made by the first mate, also named Yannis…
